🥟 Pork & Sweet Potato Dumplings
🛒 Ingredients (using what you have + a few basics)
- Bone-in pork loin
- Sweet potato
- Wonton wrappers
- Garlic (or powder)
- Soy sauce
- Brown sugar or honey
- Oil (for frying or brushing)
- Salt & pepper
- Optional: green onion, chili flakes, sesame oil
👩🍳 Step-by-step
1. Cook the pork
- Season pork with salt, pepper, garlic.
- Roast at 375°F (190°C) for ~25–35 mins (depending on size) until cooked through.
- Let rest, then shred or finely chop (discard bone).
2. Prep the sweet potato
- Peel, cube, and boil until soft (10–15 mins).
- Mash lightly—you want some texture, not baby food.
3. Make the filling
Mix:
- Shredded pork
- Mashed sweet potato
- 1–2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp brown sugar or honey
- Optional: chili flakes or green onion
Taste it—this is your moment to adjust salt/sweet.
4. Assemble wontons
- Wet the entire wonton wrapper
- Place ~1 tbsp filling in center
- Fold into triangles or little pouches (no need for perfection—rustic = charming)
5. Cook them (choose your adventure)
Option A: Pan-fried (best texture)
- Heat oil in a pan
- Cook wontons until golden and crispy on both sides
Option B: Air fryer
- Brush lightly with oil
- 375°F for ~8–10 mins
Option C: Deep fry
- 350°F until golden (2–3 mins)
6. Quick glaze (this makes it pop)
In a pan:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- Splash of water
Simmer 2–3 mins → toss wontons in it or drizzle on top.
